As summer approaches, the allure of solo travel does, too. As someone on the Sun Country team, I've been fortunate enough to take numerous solo trips, taking full advantage of the flying perks of working in the industry. Whether you're jetting to urban destinations or seeking solace in natural landscapes, I'm here to share insider insights to elevate your solo travel game.

1. Embrace flexibility: One of the joys of solo travel is the freedom to create your itinerary on the fly. Take advantage of our convenient flight schedules that suit your pace and preferences. With a wide range of destinations from bustling cities to beach getaways, Sun Country Airlines makes it easy to embark on your solo adventure without breaking the bank.

2. Prioritize safety: Safety should always be a top priority, especially when traveling alone. Research your destination thoroughly, familiarize yourself with local customs and emergency procedures, and always trust your instincts. If you’re a little extra nervous, opt for activities and dining in well-lit and centrally located areas, and consider investing in a portable safety device for added peace of mind.

3. Connect with locals: Solo travel presents a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture and forge meaningful connections with the people who live there. Strike up conversations with shop owners, attend cultural events, or join guided tours to meet new people.

4. Pack light and smart:

Packing efficiently is key to solo travel success. Reach for versatile clothing items that can be mixed and matched to create multiple outfits and invest in lightweight and compact travel gear. Don’t forget to check the baggage policies, which allows you to bring essentials without worrying about excessive fees. Remember to pack a portable charger and travel-sized toiletries to stay refreshed and connected throughout your journey.

Tip: Consider purchasing a 3-in-1 charger to maximize space in your bag.

5. Solo dining: Dining alone can be a daunting prospect for some solo travelers, but it's also an opportunity to try new flavors and indulge in the classics. Research eateries in advance and don't be afraid to dine solo at restaurants or cafes frequented by locals.

6. Embrace spontaneity: While planning is essential for solo travel, don't be afraid to embrace spontaneity and go with the flow. Say yes to trying different activities, explore off-the-beaten-path destinations, and allow yourself to be open to new experiences.

With these insider insights and tips, you're ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery, exploration, and unforgettable memories that are all your own. Pack your bags, embrace the unknown, and let the solo travel adventures begin!
